The Auslan Picture Dictionary e-book (PDF)

The Auslan Picture Dictionary is a 107-page PDF containing over 1,000 signs and pictures. Each sign is labeled and matched with a corresponding picture.

It covers 25 topics: Alphabet, Action, Animals, Body, Calendar, Clothes, Colour, Community, Country, Family, Feelings, Food, Greetings, House, Money, Nature, Numbers, Occupation, People, Placing, Questions, Sport, Time, Transport, and Weather.

To use the dictionary:

  • Select a topic, photocopy the relevant pages onto A3-sized paper, display them on the wall, and teach students the signs.
  • Once students are familiar with and accurately signing the signs, they can then participate in activity games (suggested activity ideas are included in the e-book).
  • Work on activity sheets from both LOTE Auslan Activity Book A and LOTE Auslan Activity Book B.

The Auslan Picture Dictionary Mix n Match Cards e-book includes all the signs and pictures from the Auslan Picture Dictionary e-book, complete with their English labels, in a ready-made card template.

Simply download the e-book, print the sheets, cut out, and laminate the cards.

This resource is excellent for helping students memorize Auslan signs by matching them with their pictures.

The Auslan Picture Dictionary LABEL THE SIGNS e-book includes all the signs and pictures from the Auslan Picture Dictionary e-book.

It features two worksheet sections:

  • Tracing Words: Trace the word under each sign picture (for younger students learning to write).
  • Labeling: Blank lines under each sign picture for labeling (for older students).


    • These tracing and labeling sheets are suitable for Prep to Grade 6 students learning signs for the first time.
